A federal jury in Ohio has convicted five former executives of a health care company charged in a $1.9 billion scheme to defraud investors.
The officials worked for National Century Financial Enterprises, which was described as the nation’s largest health care financing firm before its 2002 bankruptcy.
The five were convicted Thursday of the first seven counts of a 27-count indictment. The judge is continuing to read the verdicts one by one.
Some of the company’s highest ranking executives were convicted in the fraud.
The jury began deliberations Tuesday following five weeks of testimony in U.S. District Court in Columbus.
