Forget the 2G Scam and enjoy the lighter side of India’s mother of all scams—enjoy the 2G jokes—some of them were picked up from conversations and retorts. The others have been manufactured by me!
“Have you ever been approached by Nira Radia? You are not a journalist if you have not been approached by her!” Those were the words a journalist used, to have a dig at a fellow journalist!
At a press conference to go into the ‘ethics of journalism’ following alleged involvement of senior journalists in lobbying, fixing and power broking, a member of the audience took a pot shot at the speaker when he blurted out: “Those who got paid off in the 2G Scam are enjoying the booty and those who didn’t get anything are holding press conferences and participating in panel discussions!”
A Raja was behaving like a king in the Communications Ministry of the Government of India. Someone said: “It is not his fault. The blame should go to his parents who named him Raja!”
“Is Nira Radia a fixer, a public relations expert, a lobbyist or a power broker?” Asked an inquisitive citizen of Delhi.
“None of these…she looks like a shooting range owner to me…”
“How come?”
“Well, she is calling the shots!”
Top journalists who are alleged to be involved in this episode of numerous scams that are haunting the nation are busy clarifying that they frog-leaped to their top slots without learning the first lessons in journalism which is: They are supposed to use their sources and not let their sources use them!
Another wag contended: the 2G spectrum Scam is estimated to be worth 170,000 crores of rupees but that estimate is based on 3G spectrum. And, the 3G spectrum is on its way!
