The daughter of Peru’s former President Alberto Fujimori says doctors have found a benign cyst in the jailed president’s pancreas.
The procedure to test the cyst comes three months after Fujimori he had an operation to remove a precancerous lesion on his tongue.
Fujimori’s daughter Keiko says that while tests show the cyst is benign, the family is still waiting for the results of a blood analysis.
The 70-year-old Fujimori is on trial for allegedly authorizing kidnappings and massacres by a military death squad in the early 1990s.
Fujimori’s daughter said Monday that doctors also say the former president is suffering from severe gastritis, most likely due to the stress of the trial.
