Prosecutors in White Plains, N.Y., allege that a disbarred lawyer who lived three doors down from the Clintons executed his wife in “a seemingly perfect murder.”

Assistant District Attorney Christine O’Connor told a jury Friday that Carlos Perez-Olivo shot his wife in the back of the head as she dozed in their car on Nov. 18, 2006.

Defense lawyer Christopher McClure called the account “a fairy tale” that will not overcome reasonable doubt. He says Perez-Olivo and his wife were ambushed and shot by a stranger.

Prosecutors say Perez-Olivo shot Peggy Perez-Olivo _ and wounded himself in the belly _ because he wanted her life insurance proceeds of nearly $900,000.

He is no longer renting the house on the cul-de-sac where Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton live in Chappaqua (CHAP’-uh-kwah).
