_ 1999: Italian authorities notify Seifert that the government has charged him with serious wartime offenses and that he faces prosecution.

_ 2000: Seifert is tried in absentia before an Italian military tribunal, which convicts him on nine of 15 charges and gives him a life sentence. Italy requests his extradition from Canada. Seifert denies the charges and appeals his conviction through his lawyers in Italy.

_ Aug. 4, 2007 _ British Columbia Court of Appeal upholds extradition request and orders Seifert to be jailed. The court dismisses Seifert’s appeal, in which he claimed Cotler, being Jewish, was biased in his 2005 decision.

_ Nov. 13, 2007 _ Supreme Court of Canada rules the government was within its right to revoke Seifert’s citizenship because he lied to obtain it.

_ Jan. 17, 2008 _ Canada’s Supreme Court refuses to hear Seifert’s extradition appeal.

_ Feb. 15, 2008 _ Seifert is extradited to Italy.
