In their messages, the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Prathiba Patil greeted the Pakistani people on Eid and both leaders vowed to work together for integrity and friendship in future.

Also, the US president George Bush has also sent a message of Eid greetings to Pakistan’s President, saying that the Pak-US relations would be further strengthened in future.

As the pressure overburdens Pakistani government, a daring and loud voice was raised by the Pakistani foreign minister stating that ‘Pakistan won’t handover any Pakistani citizen to India at any point of time under any circumstances.’

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister made it clear to the Indian government not to “live in joyous sleeps of winter” dreaming that Pakistan would kneel before the Indian demand and hand over its citizens to its arch-rival. He was talking to media men after offering Eid-ul-Adha prayers in his hometown of Multan, the southern Pakistani City.

Meanwhile, as the focus in the aftermath of the carnage in India’s business capital shifts to Islamabad’s attempts of clamping down on militant organizations, Pakistani officials, on Tuesday, quizzed an alleged “key planner” of the Mumbai attacks as the United States urged further cooperation with Washington and New Delhi to prevent follow-on strikes.

Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi nage – who according to the Indian media was named by the lone surviving gunman as a key planner of last month’s attacks – was detained in Pakistan’s central Punjab province on Saturday, and faced a grilling over his role in the car. Another 15 people were arrested in the disputed region of Kashmir, a day later.

Amid the launch of an operation by the Pakistan’s military, targeting militant groups, the United States Monday welcomed “positive steps” taken by Islamabad since the Mumbai attacks. Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari telephoned the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to brief her on measures taken by Pakistan since her visit to Islamabad and New Delhi, Rice’s spokesman Sean McCormack said.

“What we don’t want to see are future attacks coming, emanating from Pakistani soil,” McCormack added.

The White House also welcomed Islamabad’s actions, with spokeswoman Dana Perino saying: “I think there is no doubt that Pakistan has taken some positive steps.”

“It’s critically important now... that we continue to work together, the Indians, the Pakistanis, the United States and our allies, to prevent follow-on attacks after the attacks in Mumbai,” she said.

Whereas, most leaders have praised Pakistani leadership for showing a mature level of responsibility in dealing with the arising situations, they have demanded Pakistan’s full and transparent cooperation with India in seeking to bring to justice the militants/terrorists who killed over 195 people and destroyed the peaceful atmosphere of the Indian financial capital, and the house of Bollywood stars.
