Egypt's Possible Future President Supports Palestinian Resistance
When he was the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Egypt's Mohammed El Baradei was often criticized for being subservient to the United States.

El Baradei made Iranian uranium enrichment a priority for the IAEA in accordance with U.S. wishes all the while refusing to ever highlight Israel's actual nuclear stockpile of at least 100 nukes. It is so ridiculous that the world still keeps up this gimmick of pretending Israel's nuclear weapons do not exist especially since an Israeli currently living under semi-house arrest in Israel after his release from prison publicly disclosed much of Israel's nuclear information in leaked documents in the 1990s. But the West continues with this double standard which is infuriating to Arabs and Muslims. And in his past duties, El Baradei maintained this double standard of criticizing Iran while ignoring Israel.
But that was a El Baradei who needed U.S. support as president of a UN agency. Now a new El Baradei is emerging. He has returned to his native Egypt and is seeking the presidency. A breath of fresh air under the Mubarak autocracy he is attracting widespread support amongst the intellectuals and the middle class and in a fair contest he may actually win the vote.
And El Baradei is starting to pronounce his real views on Palestine. The Mubarack regime has been incredibly subservient to Israel and even supports Israel's blockade of Gaza. But El Baradei promises to be a different man on Palestine. One who actually represents the popular Arab will rather than the talking point of Washington and Zionists:
Former IAEA Chief Mohamed ElBaradei, who is considering contending in Egypt's presidential elections next year, expressed his support for the "Palestinian resistance" while slamming Israel.
In a report published Tuesday, the experienced diplomat said that Palestinian violence was the only path open to the Palestinian people, because "the Israeli occupation only understands the language of violence."
ElBaradei (67), who returned to Cairo last February, has not officially announced that he will run in the elections, but behind the scenes a campaign is already underway, including visits to mosques and churches, and photo ops with public figures. A month ago he even established a national "foundation" for democratic reform in Egypt.
According to the report from the UPI news agency, ElBaradei started the ball rolling with a meeting Monday with members of his movement, thus making it clear to Israel how relations between the states will be after the elections – if he wins. According to Ibrahim Nawar, a senior figure in the movement, ElBaradei also said, "The peace process has become a stupid joke which we talk about without achieving any progress."
The former International Atomic Energy Agency leader criticized the fence which Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak set up along the Gaza Strip border. The fence "hurts Egypt's reputation," he said. "It appears to be participation in the siege of Gaza, which has become the world's largest prison."
"The logical solution to the problem," he continued, "would be to close the tunnels and open border crossings while creating a free trade zone in Rafah where Palestinians can trade and then return to Gaza."
And the Egyptian opposition pushing him to power wants a referendum on the ignoble peace treaty.
Because of such a comment and effort you can be sure that the United States will try to oppose El Baradei's rise to power and will support the suspension of whatever exists of Egyptian democracy in order to see that happen. And you can similarly be sure that Zionists in Washington - media, think tank, politicians - will now start to defame El Baradei as a dangerous radical, supporter of terrorists, and a threat to Israel and American interests, ect... That is their game and they have no shame in it.
But in the long run they will not be able to forever subdue the Arab will be relying on the corrupt and illegitimate dictator clients.
