Egypt's Increasing Distance From Israel
Israel's leadership and media was not unduly alarmist, it seems, about the fall of Mubarak and Egyptian democracy. "The only democracy in the Middle East" [sic] had been a great beneficiary of the Sadat-Mubarak dictatorship. With Egypt, the Arab world's cultural heart and military giant, neutered with U.S. largess, Israel felt a freer hand to further its oppression of the Palestinians and colonization of their hand. In the over 30 years since Camp David, Israel has launched two wars against Lebanon (the first, 1982, killed over 20,000 civilians), brutally suppressed two Palestinian uprisings and a infamous war against Gaza deemed a crime against humanity by the United Nations, launched bombing raids against Tunisia, Iraq, Syria and the Sudan, and, lastly but never least, increased the illegal settlement population from a few thousand to more than half a million (or 10% of the Jewish Israeli population) and obviously further usurping Palestinian land. All this took place under the banner of the "peace process". It is clear that the word peace here it meant to convey peace for Israeli occupation. That Israel should be allowed to violently occupy the Palestinians without worrying about its western border. Without an Egyptian state willingly to defend the Palestinians, other Arab nations are too weak to do anything, and Israel continues to perpetuate the longest running military occupation in the modern world. A free Egypt is simply incongruous with the goals of Israeli occupation and war. That is why the Israeli government strongly backed Mubarak until the end and war fearful of the morn.

And the Israeli media dismissed the resplendent and mostly secular Egyptian demonstrators as impish Muslim Brotherhood fanatics. Such hokum!
Well, the Israelis were right to be wary. But not in fear of the Brothers but because most Egyptians, like most of the world, are offended by Israeli war crimes and brutality. And the new Egyptian government is making those pronouncements now know. In the recent past, Egypt's interim government has appointed senior figures known for their criticism and even hostility toward Israel, stated that the blockade against Gaza is indefensible and has ceased natural gas supplies to Israel.
And this morning brings this news:
Israel should not rush into carrying out any military operations in Gaza, Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Elaraby said in a statement on Wednesday. Elaraby "asked Israel to exercise self restraint and warned it against rushing into a military operation in Gaza".
"Egypt Air, the largest airline in Egypt, has removed Israel from the map – literally. On its website, Ynet has learned, Jordan's land reaches the Mediterranean Sea."
The new Egypt! Get used to it Zionists!
