Their off-screen partnership was although not welcomed by everybody, as our Veeru (Dharmendra) was already married when he exchanged vows with Basanti (Hema Malini), but their on-screen chemistry has always been welcomed by their fans. The magic that this jodi creates has been witnessed by all in some of the movies like 'Raja Jaani', 'Sharafat', 'Pratigya' and the most loved of all 'Sholay'.
The Hema-Dharam magic was first seen in the film 'Sharafat'. It has been 24 years since we have seen the Bollywood's golden couple Dharmendra and Hema Malini on screen together. They were last seen together in a film 'Raiza Sultan' in 1983. Malini added the reasons we have not seen them together on film is that:
We got busy with our lives and pushed acting on the backburner.
But both the star couple now having made their reappearances in successful movies like 'Baghbaan', 'Baabul' ( both featuring Hema and Amitabh) and Dharamji's recent releases 'Life In a Metro' and 'Apne', there is no doubt now that both have taken to their acting careers once again. It is being reported that Pritish Nandy has casted this magical couple this year in his forthcoming flick 'Hum Aise Hain'.
The married couple with two children, Esha, who is a Bollywood star and Aahana who is soon to make her debut as a director have been encouraging their parents to work together again. It seems that with 'Hum Aise Hain' they have obliged their daughters and their fans too.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that this long awaited comeback as a couple creates history again and we just cannot wait to see the magic of these two together again.
