Doomed All Over Again - First Raped, than HIV+

There is a myth which is doing rounds since the time HIV appeared in the modern world scenario. It must have been the outcome of some depraved thinking, if one has HIV+ and if that infected person has sex with a virgin he will be cured. It is utter rubbish but this incarnation of Devil in Goa believed in this myth, so instead of seeking proper medical help he took the easy way out, he raped an 9 year girl who unluckily was the daughter of his neighbour.

In June 2006 when it was drizzling this monster called the girl to his house. Once inside he caught hold of the girl's hand, restrained her and had forceful, unprotected sex with her. When the poor girl cried out in pain he held a knife to her delicate throat and threatened to kill her whole family if she dared to mention the incident to anyone.

Poor baby, she went home shell shocked, as her parents were not at home she was unable to share her trauma with anyone, so she was in a state of shock. It took her nearly a month and a half to gather enough courage to tell her parents. They went to the police station and the rapist was caught but due to lack of medical evidence he was freed in August 2006 and the investigations closed.

Meanwhile the poor child's health continue to deteriorate, she was even forced to drop out of school. In last few months as her condition worsened she was admitted in the hospital and there she had another shock awaiting her, she was detected with HIV+. The parents were also tested for the same but when their report came out negative there could be only one source of infection, the rape.

Now the parents want the rapist to be tested for HIV+ and also the case should be re-opened so that he could be punished with such punishment that can be measured according to his heinous crime. But what I think is that is no punishment which can even punish him for even an iota of his horrible deed.
