The U.S. dollar was mixed against other major currencies in European trading Friday. Gold fell.
The euro traded at $1.5635, down from $1.5686 late Thursday in New York. Later, in midday New York trading, the euro fetched $1.5631.
Other dollar rates in Europe, compared with late Thursday, included 104.21 Japanese yen, down from 105.26; 1.0342 Swiss francs, down from 1.0356; and 1.0167 Canadian dollars, up from 1.0139.
The British pound was quoted at $1.9827, up from $1.9695.
In midday trading in New York, the dollar bought 104.16 yen and 1.0336 Swiss francs, while the pound was worth $1.9828.
Gold traded in London at $890.10 per troy ounce, down from $891.10 late Thursday. In Zurich, gold traded at $889.65 bid per troy ounce, down from $891.20.
Silver traded in London at $16.82, up from $16.78.
