Does Tendulkar visit the toilet?
DOES SACHIN VISIT THE TOILET?
I admire Sachin Tendulkar the cricketer and the man. But I shall never forget that he is a human being.

When Sachin complied a glorious fifty against great odds in a recent match an ecstatic fan twiterred’I feel like touching Sachin’s feet’
A placard at the match venue said’If cricket is a religion Sachin is God’
At the end of the IPL finals as the two teams--Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings-- walked towards the pavilion Sunil Gavaskar the commentator was in raptures at Sachin’s performance BUT DID NOT SAY A WORD ABOUT THE WINNING TEAM AND ITS CAPTAIN DHONI !!
I believe these incidents betray our tendency to deify, idolise and elevate our achievers to the realm of gods . We tend to forget that these achievers are also human.. My relatives in Australia and the Carribean tell me that they hardly ever hear locals go into ecstacies over Bradman or Sobers who too are among cricketing greats. For that matter hardly anyone in the U.S goes overboard over Magic Johnson.Heroes are never ever elevated into deities anywhere else in the world.
Sports aside a recent report tells us that some dalits in UP have erected a temple for English language—called Angrez maiyya—as a reminder to their community that proficiency in that language will help them climb the socio economic ladder . I appreciate the importance they attach to my favourite language but to make it a goddess!!
It took the New Zealander Jenkins who was the coach of the Deccan Chargers to comment after hearing Gavaskar’s ecstatic comments to remind all of us of a simple truth ..
Jenkins commented ‘Sachin also goes to the toilet like anyone of us’
Need I say more ?
