Religion is a very sensitive issue the world over, especially Islam. The supreme leader, Mufti Shaban Mubajje, has been quoted in the media to be pro- death penalty. He explained that according to Islam, a criminal should be paid using the same currency as he has done to the other. To quote him directly;
“By killing a person, the killer should know that he is also killing himself,” he said. He further explained that if it is scrapped, especially in African countries, murders would increase.
Why is it that if the death penalty is scrapped in africa, murders would increase? Besides, there is no evidence that with the death penalty in place, less murders take place.
Quite recently, there was news of another volatile muslim cleric in australia, Samir Abu Hamza who has been quoted to preach that its alright to beat and rape your wife.
This leads me to ask, is islam a religion of peace? Are we at all biased in thinking that all the terrorists are muslim and that they are products of their religion?
