Disposable shampoo strips
Sometimes strange ideas give brilliant solutions, like the ‘paper shampoo’, which is made of strips of a paper like material, impregnated with hair cleaner thus, easily dissolving in water. Compact packaging makes it easy, simple and very suitable for the travelers as it also meets TSA’s strict liquid limitations. Also available are Shaving and laundry detergent papers.

However, it claims to reduce the environmental footprint as well which does not seem to be true.

A single bottle of shampoo or detergent is equivalent to several hundred strips in terms of waste generated. Driven by demands of convenience, style etc. we have been moving from conventional items to those of use& throw types. From pens, bottles, packaging, paper napkins, plastic & paper utensils to cutlery, even cameras and lighters, everything is available in use and throw avatar.

This is aggravating the problem of waste disposal. Cities the world over are struggling with this problem, particularly of non-biodegradable waste. Though things like paper shampoo are very useful, their indiscriminate use will only add to the waste. As our contribution to the environment we should strive to limit the use of such disposable and non-biodegradable items to the minimum.
