This would definitely be a jolt to the lovers of eutopian idea of love and Devdas fans who experienced the joy of catharasis in Bhansali's 'Devdas'.
The film's producer, Pritish Nandy, seems pretty prepared to take on the traditionalist and says,
Classics mutate with time. They change so many colors. I decided to do our own version of 'Devdas' after I saw Sanjay Leela Bhansali's version. As a Bengali, I couldn't connect with his lavish operatic mood. Saratchandra's version of the tale was all about austerity, holding back rather than unleashing a torrent of emotions.

This really amusing version of Mishra's 'Devdas', starts shooting on Oct 20. We just hope that Misra is able to live up to the expectations of his audience!
