Democratization of loot of the national property

When the concept of democracy developed in Greek City States or any where else in the ancient civilizations, the idea behind it was to ensure freedom of individual to form a government that is not oppressive and every one has a say in the affairs of the government.

In the system of monarchy or dictatorship the government is in the hands of few people and only they can get the advantage of looting the national property and abusing the governmental power. It is not that all the monarchs or dictators were dishonest or cruel, but most of them were unsympathetic to the public welfare and development.

Democracy was considered a better system because it gives an opportunity to the common people to contribute in the formation of the government of their choice. But the democratic process is completed only when the government is also working for those who have formed it.

In India, the first stage of the democratic process is some how found i.e. the formation of the government with public support (although this process is also distorted due to different weaknesses of the Indian society), the second stage of the democratic process, in India, is hardly in existence, i.e. the government works for the people only when it is necessary for the purpose of getting their favour or unless that work actually benefits those who are engaged in doing it.

In the name of development and people's welfare the national wealth is diverted to the members of the government or their subordinates and supporters and the people are left with only a very small fraction of it.So, the national wealth that was being looted by few in the monarchies and dictatorships,is now being looted by many people(who call them people's men), who are involved in the running of the government in the name of the people.

In the Indian democracy, atleast there is no absolute monopoly in the capture of the national property.Except few permanent operators of the Indian polity, others normally come and go, means there is a change in the beneficiaries.Few politicians have, of course, monopolized the politics and have reserved it for their generations.Whatever they invested in the politics, they are harvesting much much more than that.

It has been proved really very profitable for them to come into politics.They have become a permanent feature of politics.Whether or not they do any thing, their status will always be very high and secured.An ordinary citizen,even if very hard working,honest and intelligent,can not even think of reaching to that level.

At the middle and lower level of politics, however, the monopolization was not allowed as it was at higher level. The politicians at these levels,normally, come and go as supported by their bosses according to their loyalty level.If they are favourable to their bosses then they are awarded with tickets in elections and given the chance of looting the wealth as they can, until they remain loyal.

This way ,our democracy has been facilitating the loot of the public wealth in the name of the public good, and the public,itself,is unable to understand this deceptive design of its own people due to its certain inherent weaknesses.
