Democratic Politician Resigns After Quipping About A Dead Sarah Palin
With all the social networking sites that abound, like Twitter and Facebook, it's just so easy to vent. We get angry and we twitter about it, or add it to our Facebook page. People write the most private things on Facebook without realizing that google caches most everything, and even if you remove some remark or comment that you regret, it remains on the Internet for pretty much forever. People have been fired and sued for what they have written on the Internet. All you have to do is google a person's name and voila! I suppose because it's just you and your computer, it's so easy to forget that there are others out there reading what you have to say, or gripe about. And many people just write what comes to mind without thinking about the repercussions if what they have said is not flattering.

Take politicians for example, who have a tendency to not think before they speak, or in the case of Democratic Rep. Timothy Horrigan from New Hampshire, what they write.
On his Facebook page, this politician seeking re-election wrote about Sarah Palin, former Republican Vice-Presidential candidate, saying that
“a dead Palin wd be even more dangerous than a live one” and she “is all about her myth & if she was dead she cdn’t commit any more gaffes.”
I don't care how much you loathe, despise or hate a particular politician, you just don't tell people in a public forum that a person would be better off dead. I'm a registered Republican, though not that fond of Palin, but I would never wish any harm on any Democratic politician. There are too many crazy people in this world, both liberal and conservative and they don't need some idea planted in their heads about offing a politician. Horrigan did apologize, and then resigned. And rightfully so. He has also said he will not seek re-election. Just as well. New Hampshire is better off with someone who isn't so stupid to publicly voice his disapproval of a former, fellow politician.
And he's not the only New Hampshire politician to speak before he thinks. It seems New Hampshire has quite a few stupid ones, since another Democrat, Keith Halloran, also made some offensive remark on his Facebook page, stating he wished that Sarah Palin had also been on the plane that crashed, killing Alaskan Republican Senator Ted Stevens. Unlike, Horrigan, he has not resigned and doesn't seem poised too, although there have been those who believe he should.
Calling or wishing for someone's death is just horrendous and very irresponsible. Hopefully, our politicians will start taking more responsibility for what comes out of their mouths and think before they speak.
