Carlos Delgado set a New York Mets record with nine RBIs in the opener of Friday’s two-ballpark doubleheader against the New York Yankees.

Delgado had nine RBIs in a four-inning span at Yankee Stadium.

He hit a two-run double in the fifth off Dan Giese, then his 12th career grand slam in the sixth, a drive against Edwar Ramirez. Delgado added a three-run homer in the eighth off Ross Ohlendorf, his 13th home run of the season.

Dave Kingman drove in eight runs for the Mets in an 11-0 victory at the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 4, 1976.

Delgado entered with just 35 RBIs this season.
