CWG2010-Signal Free drive from Yamuna Sports Complex to Games Village

As a part of CWG 2010 project, it was envisaged that signal free drive will be provided to the players in between Yamuna Sports Complex and the Games Village, but the progress of the work on this stretch is far from satisfaction as much as Anand Vihar Xing has not been converted into signal free destination courtesy Delhi PWD and UP PWD/GDA. The plan to be put in place is that the traffic coming from Ghazipur Xing would go straight up to Rly.line Fly over and take U turn under the fly over to come back to Anand Vihar Xing. This would have facilitated signal free traffic flow. This plan was revealed some time back by Mr. Chauhan, the Minister In charge of PWD of Delhi Govt. But the ground situation is that this vital Xing has not been touched by these agencies at all for any developmental work. GDA/UP PWD did some initial work of widening the approach road but left it half finished. Similarly, Delhi Govt. agencies were quite eager to carry out demolition of Police and Check Post of Toll Tax people but did not do basic work leave apart beautification work to be done later. The only pre paid booth which was in operation has been shut down for want of a room to operate since the police post is knocked down. With present situation and the traffic conditions it is expected that the current level of chaos will continue to hound the users of this stretch of road.

It is also to be pointed out that the Foot over head bridges for road Xing, which are planned to come on this portion are not to be seen. However, some concrete pillars can be spotted coming up near the entrance of Anand Vihar Rly. Terminal. The progress is very slow and it may take another six months to yield any fruitful results. It is apprehended that the equipment ordered and received shall be diverted to some other location after the games are over.

It means that the life of many road crossing people would continue to be in danger. It is worth to note that at least more then 20 deaths are seen on this portion of road after the opening of the Metro and the new Rly. Terminal at Anand Vihar. Till date no trial run has been made for dedicated corridor on this stretch by the police as the road repairs could not be completed. Rains are also putting road blocks for these agencies.
