CC Sabathia pitched his first National League complete game and pinch-hitter Craig Counsell hit a game-winning sacrifice fly to help the Milwaukee Brewers avoid a sweep with a 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

Sabathia (2-0) allowed a sacrifice fly by David Ross in the second and one by Adam Dunn in the third, but shut down Cincinnati the rest of the way. From the fourth inning on, he struck out nine, including the side in the top of the ninth. He walked one.

The Brewers headed into the All-Star break in a second-place tie in the NL Central with St. Louis. The teams trail Chicago by five games.
