Corporatization of politics or politicization of corporate in India?

POLITICS. .

All of you know about industry and their positive sides. But they too have dark shadow of political influence. Both need each other for their existence. We go back to history. For starting first textile mill in India Mahatma Gandhiji collected Rs 1,00,000/- from common people for Tata's. They then started Nagpur's Empress Mill.

If Tata's were funded by our icon role model, why then that time they chose the name "Empress" than any other Indian name? They wanted not to hurt colonial sentiments as they were rulers. So the TATA empire of today was mostly supported by Congress as well Britisher's. This is what I read in book published in early 80's by name The Rising India. Now Ratan Tata is grumbling about politics and their influence. Mostly his ego is hurt somewhere. This is true with any nice gentleman. I understand his anguish but not cynical remarks about politicians.

We start with Nehruji first. He is the one who started the concept of building huge government owned Industrial empire. He started with Hydel Dams, sate owned Rail, Aviation, defense, Power and so many Industrial Ratna's. He really had a huge dream for India. Who were the real beneficiaries of that? Definitely Tata's, Birla's and so many industrial houses of that time were the one. HOW?. As the basic infrastructure required for all these state owned Industries was provided by these houses by allocation of various tenders and regulations of that time by Nehruji who was nearly a dictator with a little opposition from Sardar Vallabhbaiji.

So the first green revolution began with the strong Industrial lobby of Tata's and Birla's' India owes lot to Nahruji for his well thought philosophy. If you do not believe this, please read autobiography of J.R.D. Tata and G.D. Birla that too written by critics. It may or may not be true.

Till beginning of Indiraji;s rule they (Tata's & Birla's) virtually hold monopoly in politics. She changed the face so she is the most criticized politicians of India. She founded another concept of blaming external powers and RSS for her criticism. But from the back door she too was involved in all the game of rising India. During her era these empires had strong foundation laid. She needed money to corrupt beurocracy which was provided by these empires and she started hunting for another avenues for money so there was rise of second generation Industrialists.

She then nationalized all banking sector to have leverage over all established and establishing Industrial houses. She cleverly webbed a net and vicious circle of money rotation. On one hand she funded these empires trough banks and on the other hand she got her dues when ever needed for elections, corrupting her supporters and so many.

She laid the foundation of another rising India with tag of corruption. Although she is criticized most of the times RSS and sent so many to jail after the battle won over Pakistan, Atalji that time praised her as "Durga Devi" after the separation of Pakistan and birth of Bangladesh. But soon after 7 months he was too sent to jail. Most of her ideas, thoughts were driven by the RSS. Please read an article published by none other than Arun Shourie in one of the first few India Today magazine.

He cleverly dug out her decisions and articles from "Panchjanya" to establish his theory of she being governed by back door support of RSS. But her empire was threatened by the rising poverty and huge uproar in rural India. She had no other choice but to declare emergency for borrowing time for cooling the mass uproar. This emerging Mass Appealing Politician was seen by all industrial houses as threat and there was rise of JANATA PARTY.

Please let me know how could a party of different ideologies and relations came together and could fight an election against the most powerful lady of all the times ( another is M. Thacher ) with in a span of few months and could easily win? Where did they get all financial resources from? Did all Janata Party leaders fought election without penny or with their own money? Answer is simple. The established industrial houses did not want her to rule so was the ready made option available. Soon in 13 months this new party collapsed.

Do you think it was RSS minded people who wanted to part away? NO, again these houses could not digest Morarjibhai as another dictator to govern them. These houses thought to have a snake than a cobra. And another era of Indiraji started. This time she was wise enough to understand the economy of politics and started third generation of entrepreneurs. INDIANS DO ALSO OWE TO BRING INDIA ON THE MAP OF GLOBE TO INDIARAJI.

So now we have new players in the game. So was the beginning of Dhirubhai, Vithal Mallay ( father of Vijay) etc.Dhirubhai was the most clever amongst all. He started corrupting political Parties more with hard bargains. Do you all remember the battle of Wadia and Dhirubhai, a clash of PTA against DMT ? Now Indiraji as a leader had new players in her team. So was the beginning of so called Chandal choukadi of Sanjay Gandhi and other young Turks.

And the relatively limited corruption became wide spread. This was then the beginning of Stock Market in real sense. All these third generation politicians founded a new concept of huge borrowing, PUBLIC ISSUE. This is beginning of eighties. Alas I was the one who filled the first form for getting first convertible debentures then shares. This was the real rise of stock market as even a medical student took interest in public issues. I started with my capital of Rs 10000/-.

My first purchase from market was of reliance share at the rate of Rs 113 with face value of Rs 100/- Next was SPIC then was Tata steel, soon Colgate then Castrol and so on. I motivated so many well to do class mate of mine to invest in shares than spending our emerging rich fathers money. The rational of above few lines is Dhirubhai and others with government in their pocket started showing the way of making quick money. So all nation was fooled by these gang of third generation entrepreneurs.

The corruption became a symbol of status and morals as mud. Dhirubhai manged nearly all budgets to his favor. Do any one of you HAVE access to data base of reliance share holding? Most of the Indians thought it is wise to invest their so called BLACK MONEY in these emerging corporates and other well run foreign companies. Now these companies started dictating their terms which was again a threat to our rulers. So there was a cap of foreign external investment.

So again these companies had no chance but to have their equity diluted. Where from all this money came from? Simple, it was more wise to have stake in these companies than to keep it locked in Swiss accounts. So again politics ruled now the new world CORPORATES from back door. As to rule swiss account was more difficult than to these new " sectors " (again a new word to stock market.) The spiral kept on going. But misfortune in the name of " RISING SIKH " struck. Indiraji committed gross mistake or an adventure to attack Akal Thakht with the help of a humble General Vaidya. We lost both of them.

Rajeevji then came and being humble Indian was not able to read the game properly. He failed into the trap and was mostly blamed for infamous BOFOR'S saga. No one can believe he was at all interested in corruption, The mystery of Bofor's Saga will continue as the case of assassination of John F. Kennedy. In fact he laid the foundation of so many things that are ripping fruits to India from mobile phones to I.T. industries.

He lost the battle ( elections) for not being corrupt but being honest. We would have seen more better India with the visionary like him. just go back to 70's when you were required to book a outstation phone call and wait for hours. Now can this generation believe that India had seen such time. The so called media revolution is also his dream. He supported I.T. and now we have so called breaking News in no time.

So many now feel it is wise to see the match on TV rather than going to ground. Not only that but we have so many in I.T. industry as he thought that we Indians have brain and given a opportunity they will revolutionize the look of the world to India. But alas we lost him. That must be the darkest day of Indian history after the imprisonment of Great Shivaji Maharaj. (I am not comparing but quoting an example)

Most of the things i wrote are taken from the following book and various news articles from India today to illustrated weekly of India (many may have forgotten that this was the widely read weekly of that time). So i may be wrong but this is what this book's abstracts are and those magazines wrote. I may be wrong. I do not mean to harm any individual nor any party or politician. I am quoting what I read from India today to this book.
