Coping with failure & frustration

LIFESTYLE. .

Last Sunday I received a call from a friend who wanted me to speak to his friend who had dropped his post graduate exam. On Monday I spoke to him (His son )& gave him my perspective on the matter, being a veteran in failing in exams.

Yesterday evening I got news that while having a bath in the river on the occasion of chat puja ( a festival in Bihar where sun is worshiped by having a bath during sun rise/set in a water body, fasting & offering food to sun )he has gone missing.

I do not want to know was it an accident or... A few years back a niece of mine while getting ready for school committed suicide. Her parents are yet to come to terms with the tragedy. News papers are full of stories of youth suicide & violence.

I must confess that I have had my share of frustration & failure & have even gone in to long stretches of depression but suicide never crossed my mind as I believe in the theory or reincarnation & fate & feel that I may have to face my frustration again in the next life .

Just like a prisoner caught while escaping from jail has to face harsher punishment my pain may accumulate in my next life. So running away from problems can not be the solution.

Acknowledging that we have a serious problem, viewing the same in proper perspective & letting the solution evolve in course of time sounds logical.

I keep praying & chanting mantras when free, in order to reinforce my subconscious mind with positive thoughts & evolve as a better human being.

I do not claim to be a paragon of virtues & life continues to be a challenge but I am determined to keep struggling till my last breath. Never to give up has been my resolve despite occasional hiccups.

Sorry for beating my trumpet which is not intentional but just a means of self expression to connect with you & share my thoughts & feeling.

Regarding youth I feel that either they are sheltered to a fault by their parents or they have a communication gap or the parents treat them as an extension of their persona suffocating them completely & making them feel like a slave, years back a movie bobby depicted this feeling beautifully when a teenage couple in love commit suicide on opposition from the boy’s family who were rich & famous compared to the girl’s kin.

Perhaps just like a bulb gets fused on over heating, unable to bear stress the mind looks for an easy way out. Suicide or running away seems to be an instant & easy solution. To my mind nothing can be farther from the truth.

I must confess that my thoughts may sound over simplistic & would like to be enlightened by you fellow bloggers.

Please do have a nice day.
