It’ll be a busy year for Rep. Vic Snyder, but not because of the election. The congressman from central Arkansas said Monday that he and his wife are expecting triplets.
Snyder said his wife, the Rev. Betsy Singleton of Little Rock’s Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church, is 10 1/2 weeks pregnant with triplets.
“Obviously, the pregnancy is still very early, but so far everything and everyone looks fine. We appreciate all the good thoughts and prayers now and in the weeks and months to come,” Snyder said.
And, in case you thought you misheard him, he added: “And yes, we did say triplets.”
Snyder, a Democrat who has served in Congress since 1997, is running for another term in the House and doesn’t face any major party opposition. The Green Party has nominated Deb McFarland to run against Snyder.
Snyder and Singleton already have one child, Charles Pennington “Penn” Snyder, who was born in May 2006.
Snyder isn’t the first Arkansas politician expect multiple babies. Sen. Blanche Lincoln gave birth to twin boys in 1996, when she was serving as a congresswoman.
Sndyer’s growing brood is no match for Jim Bob Duggar, a former state representative and U.S. Senate candidate, and his wife Michelle, who are expecting their 18th child.
