Closing Down CBS Radio Makes Baganda To Start First Satellite Radio
Following the Kampala riots of September last year, the government closed down one several radio stations some of which have been allowed back on air with strong conditions in place. But the radio station - central broadcasting service (cbs) - owned by the Buganda Kingdom is yet to be authorized to resume operations. Many people still doubt if it ever will.

The government has put in place several conditions before it can be reopened. Among them is to take responsibility and apologize to the government and the country for inciting violence, a charge they vehemently deny. The President insists that the radio station must stop "telling lies" and abusing him and his government.
President Museveni on a prosperity for all tour is quoted thus,
"If I, the President, can sieve what I say, why can't a mere radio station?" "Do you want me to hit back and abuse the Kabaka?"
Now, baganda Ugandans abroad can wait no longer. They want their radio back and they want it NOW! They have setup the first satellite radio station based in Los Angeles, USA. A listener can also tune in online at ababaka.com or locally on the short wave channel.
If this online radio gains the popularity that the closed station had garnered before closure, what a lesson it will be for the government especially as regards suppression of speech. I pray hope that they pick it up this time unlike while they tried to clamp down on radiokatwe.com
