A new IRS filing shows Chicago’s Olympic organizing committee raised more than $32 million during its successful effort to be selected the American bidder for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

The Chicago 2016 Exploratory Committee released its IRS filing on Friday. The filing covered the period from July 2006 to June 2007.

The tax-exempt group ended the period with more than $22 million on hand after expenses of almost $10 million.

Chicago was chosen over Los Angeles to be the American bid city and is now one of seven cities vying internationally for the 2016 Games.

The others are Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Tokyo; Madrid, Spain; Doha, Qatar; Prague, Czech Republic, and Baku, Azerbaijan.
