Catholic Church in Uganda Investigates New Catholic Sect
A break away group calling itself the Catholic Apostolic National Church was recently registered in Jinja district, eastern Uganda. The group claims to have former catholic priests in its ranks.

Kampala Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga recently warned the government against hastily registering groups that claim to belong to the mainstream church. “Just as the Government does not want to register certain political organisations before thorough scrutiny, so even these groups should not be registered,”
The sect is believed to be a part of the Catholic Apostolic Church of Brazil. This is why the leaders are suggesting their church becomes refered to as simply the Brazilian church.
As the investigations continue by the joint christian leadership, a growing fear that such groups will only continue to increase in the country. As such, incidents like the mass murder of believers at the dawn of the year 2000 are only moments away from happening again.
