Case of Indecency Filed against Actress Veena Malik in Lahore
The much talked about intimacies of Pakistani actress Veena Malik with men on Indian reality show Bigg Boss (Season 4) have finally earned her a legal challenge in Pakistan. News have it that a case has been filed against Veena Malik in a Lahore court, bringing up charges of immorality against her.

The case has been filed by a man named Mian Muhammad Iqbal of Baghbanpura in Lahore, Punjab, on the basis that Veena Malik committed unislamic, immoral acts on the show that ran from October 2010 to January 2011 on Colors TV of India. During the show, Veena Malik was shown getting close physically and emotionally to Indian film actor Ashmit Patel in many episodes. She was also shown flirting with Hrishant Goswami and, for fun’s sake, the invisible Bigg Boss’s voice. For a good while, most of Pakistani media didn’t mind Veena Malik’s performance until one private TV channel invited a cleric to comment on it, who strongly condemned Malik’s behavior on the show.
Still, it was mostly Indian media criticizing and ridiculing Veena Malik. But now, for some unknown reason, a resident of Lahore has suddenly got ill at ease with the actress’s performance in the show, calling it unislamic and immoral. Whether acting in a reality show at all pr acting nothing ‘wrong’ but wearing jeans is moral has not been clarified by anyone. But the guy has gone to a court in Lahore and filed a case against Veena Malik. The court had an initial hearing of the case and asked the concerned police chief to submit a report on the case by January 24, 2011.
The interesting fact in this case is that the alleged “immoral” acts were committed on Indian soil and a person living in Lahore has filed a complaint against the actress while it is commonly known in law that only someone affected by an act has the right to file a case against who has committed the act. How Mr. Iqbal will explain his right to bring up a case of indecency against an actress while she was abroad and shooting professionally is something only time can tell. An important question here is whether the accuser will be punished if he fails to prove that Veena Malik committed indecency. And of course, why has he not filed such acses against other actresses who have committed the same sort of “immoral” acts countless times before? These questions may become Veena Malik’s points of strength in case the legal battle heats up further.
