Can it be more shameful? These people are a blot on our nation
It can be described as the height of indignity and immorality in public life. Any other self-respecting person in the world would have by now resigned from his post. But, he profusely refuses to resign from his post even after his son Sarabjot Singh has claimed that he did everything at the behest of his father.

Welcome Mr Buta Singh, the Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, who is still clinging on to his constitutional chair even after three days of the arrest of his son Sarabjot Singh on charges of demanding a bribe of Rs one crore from a Nashik-based contractor Ramrao Patil for ‘settling’ a case filed against Patil by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
A defiant Buta Singh has so far refused to resign from his post on the plea that his son could have "confessed under pressure". "Resign? Why should I resign?", he is reported to have retorted to the media on Saturday. "I am chairperson of a constitutional forum. And I am capable, so why should I resign?" he is reported to have said.
All this is happening at a time when Sarabjot Singh has told CBI that his father was aware of his dealing with Ramarao Patil and also knew that he had met Patil and that Buta Singh had in fact written to the Nashik commissioner of police complaining that the builder had tried to bribe his son. Besides, Patil the man who complained to the CBI which led to the exposure of the scandal also claimed that Sarabjot Singh did everything at the behest of his father. Another accused in the case has indicted the former union minister saying he was present at a meeting where the bribe was discussed.
It is a classic case of power-hungry politicians who cling on to power at any cost. They are least concerned about the respect in which their chair possesses. Come what may, they will not budge from their chair. The nation does not want these types of people as the head of the constitutional powers. Such posts should be filled by men of integrity and respect.
Mr Buta, you would have done well if you had resigned the moment the finger of suspicion is pointed towards you.
