President Bush is preparing to deliver a speech of unwavering U.S. support for Israel when he stands before the Israeli parliament.
In his prepared remarks later Thursday to the Knesset, Bush says that “Some people suggest that if the United States would just break ties with Israel, all our problems in the Middle East would go away.” He says, “This is a tired argument that buys into the propaganda of our enemies, and America rejects it utterly.”
Bush denounced Iran for its call to wipe Israel “off the map.” He said the US and Israel firmly oppose Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions. “Permitting the world’s leading sponsor of terror to possess the world’s deadliest weapon would be an unforgivable betrayal of future generations,” he said.
