Burqas Are A Thieves Best Friend

POLITICS. .

Burqas are the disguise-du-jour for robbers and other criminals these days. Thieves, taking advantage of the fact that no-one dares to offend in our politically correct, 'let them wear burqas if they want', 'it's a free society' mentality, are donning burqas more and more to commit their crimes.

In England a burqa-clad thief nabbed some jewelry at a store in Greater Manchester:

A man dressed as a Muslim woman in all-enveloping burka and hijab robbed a jeweler shop in Bury, Greater Manchester Police said on Thursday.

Two accomplices, one of whom had a shotgun, barged into the shop with the man on Wednesday, and stole bangles, rings and lockets before escaping in a waiting car.

The thieves have not been caught.

Apparently Greater Manchester is a large Muslim enclave, and Islamic clothing is not uncommon, so no-one probably thought twice when a woman in a burqa entered the store. And that person will probably never be caught since no-one would be able to identify him.

Then out of Australia, where burqas are not common although hijabs are, a 35-year-old male courier was robbed in broad daylight in the parking lot of a shopping mall by a man cleverly disguised wearing a burqa and donning dark sunglasses.

The courier had just withdrawn a large amount of money from a bank yesterday when he spotted two men following him, Australian police said.

He returned to his vehicle which was parked in the car park when one of the men approached him and told him his tyre was going flat.

The man became suspicious and drove from the scene, changing his tyre in a nearby street before driving to a shopping centre.

Whilst he was parking his vehicle in the car park, he was approached by a man wearing a full burka and dark glasses.

The man pointed a pistol at him and demanded he hand over the money.

The victim handed over a bag containing a large amount of cash, and the man then ran off.

Then last year, right here in the U.S., someone dressed in a burgundy burqa held up and robbed a People's Bank in a small town in North Carolina. Although they claim they aren't sure if the robber was male or female, the fact that the getaway car was also a burgundy SUV makes me believe it must have been a female, though police think there might be an accomplice driving the getaway vehicle.

Then there's this man robbing a bank in England dressed in Islamic wear. And this one out of France.

Yes, people rob banks and jewelry stores all the time, but the fact that an individual is so unidentifiable in a burqa, so much so that police have no clue whether it's a male or female, poses major problems. These kinds of incidents make me a firm believer in banning the burqa and anything else that disguises the face and body so thoroughly from all public venues. If they want to wear the burqa at home, be my guest, at my local bank, post office and definitely the airport. No way!
