Brit Indians protest against the screening of Bollywood movie, Gandhi My Father
Bollywood efforts to promote Hindi movies overseas took a jolt when Anil Kapoor's 'Gandhi My Father' ran in troubled waters in U.K. which is scheduled to be released in India and United Kingdom on August 3.

The bone of contention is the part of the movie, which shows Gandhi's strained relationship with his son, Harilal.
Groups of British Indian have been lobbying against the screening of the movie in the U.K and demanding immediate removal of the controversial part.
The protesters are also asking to call off the release before seeing what exactly the movie holds. The protest made Gandhi's great-grandson, Tushar Gandhi appeal them to watch the movie before condemning it.
However protesters have ruled out the possibility for seeing the movie as they believe that the father of nation should not be used for commercial purposes and his family crisis should not be made public.
The protest is strong and even Razi Ahmad, the secretary of the Gandhi Sangrahalaya, a research centre in Patna has also requested Indian President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam to step in and stop the film to be screened as he said:
The name of Mahatma Gandhi or that of any other national leader should not be used for commercial purposes. It is against the law of the land. We are of the view that any attempt to tarnish the image of national heroes should not be permitted.
Gandhi's great-grandson, Tushar Gandhi believes that the movie should be given a chance as he himself is delighted by its sensitivity, despite his own initial concerns before seeing it.
He said:
It is a very well-made film. It is sincere to the subject.
The movie is directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and actor Anil Kapoor's first as a producer.
Let's hope all goes well and the movie sees U.K theatres on its scheduled day.
