Brain Drain In Pakistan
Looking into the higher education sector and its standards in Pakistan one can undoubtedly make some annotations and perceive the newest trends. “Brain drain” is the favorite of all in Pakistan keeping in view the lack of funds, research, laboratories, preferential treatment in awarding scholarships/jobs and the list goes on. To add fuel to the fire, strong departmental politics and alliance within institutions plays a major role in forcing people to think on getting out of here for better and peaceful working/learning opportunities.

HEC’s budget was cut down and it adversely affected the development in education sector. Allotment of finances for mega-project in education is based on ‘favor’ basis and only helps in raising the bank balance of a particular set of people. Scholarships are awarded to those who sides with the stronger group, not on merit.
Those who get an opportunity to go overseas for higher education get a shock of their lives to see the contrast between the education standard here and in the west. The contrast is huge and it’s very hard to get back and work without anything on ground, no labs, and equipment literally it is like out of a spaceship and stepping into Stone Age. In case those who do return have to face the music concerning their promotions and utilizing their knowledge. Ultimately they end up looking for better jobs and running out of here.
Who can survive is such an environment where everything runs around filthy politics and strong grouping? Where education sector is in this condition, the only approach is running out of here.
