Boycott Nestle

I am not the first one to call for a Boycott of Swiss foods giant Nestle. Left-wing and labor [not necessary exclusive terms] have for years targeted the firm for the poor conditions in many of its developing world factory. The company has come under criticism for exploitation.

I have generally ignored these criticisms. Not because I do not share concern for workers' rights, but because many left-wing activists misrepresent the situation. The wages and conditions in a Nestle factory in, say, Nigeria many not be at Western levels, but very often they are the best work available for workers in the area. Without Nestle many of those workers would not be in a better job, but in a worse-managed factory, poorer, on the street, and/or in prostitution.

Nestle has also come under attack for aggressively pushing a baby milk formula as an alternative to breastfeeding and the latter is far more healthier for children. Many people accuse Nestle of profiting on the backs of malnourished children.

But not I have joined the Boycott Nestle movement for different reasons. Ynet reports:

The global Nestle food company is, for the first time in its history, producing a new breakfast cereal in the southern Israeli town of Sderot. . .

The new cereal will be named Crunch Rolls Nougat and is composed of cylindrical-shaped cereal filled with nougat.

That is the end of my relationship with Nestle. Any firm that enriches a child-killing, apartheid state is not worthy of a decent man's money.

The cereal will first only be sold in "Israel" and then may be sold around the world. Remember the name and Boycott that cereal and all of Nestle.
