His win comes on a day when India's Sushil Kumar won India a bronze in the 56kg freestyle wrestling.
Vijender now faces the formidable Cuban Emilio Correa Veyeux, Jr., PanAm Games gold medal winner in 2007 and son of Olympic champion Emilio Correa Sr.
