Bob Woolmer, Pakistan cricket coach and the former England Test player, died in a Jamaican hospital on Sunday post being found unconscious on the floor of his hotel room a day after Pakistan's humiliating exit from the World Cup.

Woolmer's unexpected death and lack of credible information comes as a shock to the entire cricket fraternity; still no conclusive finding of what may have caused it, further kindles suspicion.

Woolmer's body in the absence of his family members was taken to the hospital for post-mortem, Tuesday morning, almost 48 hours after his passing away - the autopsy performed had inconclusive findings and the pathologist asked for toxicology and other forensic tests to be carried out in pursuit to reach the root cause of the mysterious death.

Sarfaraz Nawaz: Woolmer was murdered

Woolmer was a known diabetic and there were reports he had complained of breathing difficulties of late that could have led to a cardiac arrest. There is added notion that he may have died of stress coupled with alcohol and prescripted drug overdose, or an ulcer rapture as blood spots were seen in Woolmer's hotel room.

However, the biggest revelation comes with former Pakistan pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz's outbreak where he says - Woolmer was murdered by the betting syndicates, which even the investigating police feels is most likely, after reports from the Jamaican media which said - Woolmer's body was pale when found cataleptic in the hotel room and the autopsy reports also ruling out the aforementioned causes.

What's happening with Pakistan cricket?

• Skipper Inzamam Ul Haq one of the greatest batsmen in the world, with over 11,000 runs to his credential retires from the shorter version of the game.

• Sarfaraz Nawaz alleges Pakistani players of fixing matches.

• Pakistan Cricket Board's head Naseem Ashraf and the three-member selection committee resigns over the losses to the West Indies and Ireland and the team's humiliating exit from the World Cup.

Woolmer to reveal all in his upcoming book:

The controversy over the death being "suspicious" triggers with the fact that - perhaps all at the helm of cricket are somehow preoccupied with the betting in the sport and Woolmer was about to reveal all that in a book post the World Cup.

Where's the situation heading:

Jamaica police is asserting the whereabouts of the Pakistan players at the time of Woolmer's death and has advised the Pak team not to leave the country until further orders.

Pakistan team has urged not to play the match against Zimbabwe but PCB insists that the team would play the match. Mushtaq Ahmed will officiate as the coach while Inzi will lead.

The charges of the suspicion of murder have not been confirmed by any authority yet, however ICC will hold a press conference on the issue later in the day.

UPDATE: 22 March

Quoting police sources, an anonymous reporter of a Jamaican Radio station claims that deceased Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer could have been strangulated.

He said:

I made contact with the ongoing investigation. Police will tell the public and journalists that the cause of death was strangulation. I have sources in Jamaican police and I stick by my sources. Maybe they wanted to make some extra precautions (before announcing).
