Beautiful Shopping...Part 1

Do you know one of those feelings you get in your gut every now and then? The “I'm going to have a great weekend” feeling? I had my whole weekend planned because I knew what I wanted to do. When I woke up Saturday morning my room was dark and stuffy. Ah, the usual power cuts, I thought to myself, not letting it dampen my spirit. After talking to my parents I discovered that my mobile battery was breathing its last, a single bar was struggling for life. No problem! I was too enthusiastic to spare a scowl.

I decided to go shopping as planned. Had to stop by at laundry first, just as I finished signing the receipt my mobile pleaded for mercy and went into coma. I managed to revive it at the beauty parlour, enough to last for few hours. Just as I stepped into an auto the sky darkened, slow fat drops began falling reluctantly. An apology for a rain actually. As soon as I reached Commercial Street the sun was out and light breeze brushed against my forehead. You know what you want to buy, I reminded myself to control the urge to buy unnecessary things.

A bright little shop caught my attention, a mousy looking fellow greeted me and before I knew he dumped dozens of small kurtas and tops on the counter. “It's the best quality, great material...perfect fitting!” Sniffing the air through a blocked nose, the kid went on feverishly, “would you like to see any jackets, track pants? We have the best ones right here, just have a look at them!” The kid knew how to sell and will go a long way, his mom and dad ushered in more people. He adapts quickly to your preference, constantly thinking of ways to sell more. He convinced me to buy two tops and two leggings to go with long kurtas, and wanted to show skirts too but I made a quick exist and promised to return soon. I was living a moment right out of Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Just as I decided to head home I caught sight of the thing I have been looking for so long! Vest! This will be my final purchase I coxed myself. “Yes madam, we have beautiful vests (they just had four), excellent ones! Real good quality, you can try them on, they are beautiful! After I selected one, “I can show you beautiful formal shirts for formal wear, madam”, came an encouraging voice. “Er, maybe next time”, I mumbled. Two girls appeared next to me out of nowhere, lining up shirts. Soon they shifted to skirts, “Beautiful formal skirts madam, I can also show you some excellent tops, really beautiful! We only keep the higher quality materials,” he went on profusely. I looked at the rugged top I was wearing and wondered if it can be called beautiful... He had that glazed look in his eyes that no one in this world has worn anything as beautiful as the clothes that adorned his shop. “Look at these beautiful printed generation spaghetti tops, madam, they last for generations literally, even your daughters will be able to wear after you! What if I produce a son?? I wanted to ask. He insisted that every piece of outfit in his shop was beautiful. “They are imported, very hard to find and we are running out of stock,” he kept warning me. I did manage to escape without going bankrupt. “Do come back soon madam, we have some beautiful trousers and jeans!”
