BCCI Cricket Vs Saurav Cricket - Another Game In Parallel?
As well as the game Saurav plays on the field, he plays game off the field too. Earlier, we were kept speculating whether his career has come to an end. Each time and each interview, Ganguly kept on saying that he is not even thinking of retirement. He was dropped off the Irani Trophy. Even then when asked about his future, he said he will not quit, not under any external pressure.
Things changed a bit when Vengasarkar suddenly includes him into the first two test matches in the ongoing Indo – Australian cricket test series. He comes up with a press conference and shocks everyone saying that he will retire after these two test matches. Saurav was quoted by many major tabloids as saying that he will retire from the international cricket as soon as these two tests come to close.

But wait. Do not plan a farewell for Saurav yet. This has happened with him many times before too. You can get the hint when he withdraws his statement that he gave an interview to a local Bengali Newspaper criticizing the selectors of the Indian Cricket Board and his fellow players.
The major news papers are now full of reports that contradicts many of his earlier statements on his retirement plan. His new press release says that said that he never accused any selector of being biased and being indulged in political gimmicks. He says he never said that any Tom, Dick, and Harry plays one or two games to be promoted while he stays at the same level. He accuses these newspapers of misleading others.
It looks like Saurav, his career and controversies run hand in hand. Are they any kind of promotional activities that his advisors advise him to stay in news? Or is it just fate. We may not know the answer to these question. But we sure know that there is still a long way before this Prince of Calcutta is off the cricket arena.
