Barrack Obama rewrites American history in Black and White

POLITICS. .

Barrack Hussein Obama romped home with a thumping majority to became president Obama in the 2008 US presidential elections. With his election as the first African-American president, Barrack Obama rewrote the history of American democracy in black and white! For a nation that had seen so much of racial discrimination and segregation until the 1960s, this is a huge step forward.

It is not his qualifications and experience but the image he built for himself through the election campaign as the one who would usher in changes in the way Americans live…in the way Americans look at America…in the way the world looks at America. And, those changes would not be restricted to the United States of America. Those changes would transcend borders and affect the rest of the world.

If Barrack Obama is the face of change in the United States of America, the winds of change are already sweeping the entire nation. To start with, Obama has stormed many red republican bastians and painted them with democrats’ blue. And, it is not the colour red or blue anymore…it is purple.

The change does not stop there. For the first time, the American people feel that the colour be it white, black or yellow and all Americans without discrimination can work together to make their great nation the real United States of America.

Conceding defeat and owning up responsibility for it, John McCain said, that the republicans fought hard but the failure is entirely his and not that of his supporters. He congratulated Obama and pledged his support to him in running the nation. His appreciation of his running mate Sarah Palin’s role in the election, drew boos from his supporters who probably think she is partly responsible for the debacle of the republicans.

However, it is a fact that the eight year reign of president George Bush Jr did nothing to help them.

In the months ahead, the Americans would look up to him for deliverance from the economic meltdown and rethink on the US military operation abroad, create more jobs and generally turn the nation around from its downturn.

Obama in his victory speech has promised to carry the entire nation with him in the task of nation building.

Obama is the first black American to be elected to the White House. That is a huge change for the United States of America. That also poses a huge challenge to president-elect Obama. He has himself acknowledged this in his victory speech. How far he succeeds in delivering on these counts will decide on how popular he would be as a president.
