Muslim extremists have no mercy. They target women and children with no compunction. And as Muslim extremists ratchet up their lust for blood, they're starting to use more women as suicide bombers, because Islamic modesty laws make it less likely for them to be caught. Hidden under those full, flowing robes and veils suicide belts remain undetected. This is exactly what happened last week in Iraq.
A veiled woman in a black abaya, covered from head to toe walked into a tent full of women and children- Shiite Pilgrims resting on their pilgrimage to Karbala, and blew herself to bits along with 40 others. 81 people were wounded, and most of the victims were innocent women and children. In spite of attempts by Iraqi forces to protect the pilgrims, the fact that those who are ultra religious are not allowed to look at women who are not relatives, makes it virtually impossible to prevent someone hell-bent on death and destruction.
One man, whose son was injured said:
"What is my son's fault? What did he do? What kind of belief system do these people have? Are they monsters?"I can answer that question, yes, they are. And I wonder the same thing, what kind of belief system do these people have?!
Men are also taking advantage of the fact that Muslim women are never monitored, let alone searched. The total anonymity afforded by Islamic robes, makes it easier for terrorists to walk amongst their enemies and eventually murder them. There have been men, disguised as women wearing burqas, who have blown themselves up in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and elsewhere, over the years. Sometimes they're not sure whether it was a male or a female under the robes. It's not only relegated to war zones like Iraq and Afghanistan. Some Bahraini men in a car were attacked with molotov cocktails by a group of men, 3 of which were dressed in abayas. They are also a great disguise for thieves who will dress in abayas and niqabs so they can steal women's purses in mosques, or jewelry stores in Britain, or banks in the U.S. Terrorists are also using the veil to evade capture.
The only way to stop the increasing violence with the use of Islamic robes, is to ban them. There are ways for women to dress modestly, without having to hide under a tent of material. And perhaps more lives will be saved.
