Slobodan Rajkovic scored with a header off a corner kick as Serbia rallied to tie Australia 1-1 in an opening round soccer match at the Beijing Olympics.

Ruben Zadkovich gave Australia the lead in the 69th minute at Shanghai Olympic Stadium, but Rajkovic tied it in the 78th minute. The two other teams in Group A are Argentina and Ivory Coast, which were playing later Thursday at the same venue.

Australia scored when David Carney burst through and made a crossing pass from the left. Archie Thompson missed the ball, but an unmarked Zadkovich squeezed the ball in from a tight angle at the far post.

Serbia’s goal came after Aleksandar Zivkovic floated a corner kick to the near post and Rajkovic met it with a firm header that flew past goalkeeper Adam Federici.
