Tony Armas won in his season debut and eighth-place hitter Ramon Castro had two hits and three RBIs in the New York Mets’ 7-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.

David Wright hit his 16th homer and lacked a triple for the cycle as the Mets had 14 hits after mustering six runs while dropping three of the previous four games.

Carlos Delgado was 3-for-3 with two doubles, ending a 1-for-13 slump, and Ryan Church had two hits and an RBI. Castro’s outburst gave the backup catcher 11 RBIs in 59 at-bats.

Rick Ankiel hit a two-run homer for the Cardinals, who have lost nine of the last 12 regular season meetings against the Mets.

Armas (1-0), who was called up from Triple-A this week, allowed four runs in six innings.

Billy Wagner got three outs for his 19th save.
