Are we a soft state?
I wonder are we a soft state or a failed state! I think nothing can fail us but we ourselves. How can we force services to accept the pay commission recommendation just because they can not go on strike.

What if a coup is staged the consequences are...there will be no difference between India & Pak. I wish the same firmness is shown while dealing with militant labor or civil servants or petty politicians.
For a change let us abolish all the perks & give them a realistic pay which should be taxable. Let us take away all their previliges & powers & then see who joins politics not Shahabuddin or DP. Yadav for sure.
Let us keep a record of their attendance in parliament & participation in debate not by shouting or snatching papers or rushing to the well. Let us judge the quality of their speech
while I am not for death penalty I wonder what prevents the government in taking a decision on Afzal Guru is it our prisoners in Pak whose lives are hanging with a slim thread (Sarabjit singh) or is it the fear of a backlash for his belonging to minority?
Let the voters determine the pay based on the recommendation of iim. They should also have the power to recall them by refererendum let their be a performance appraisal system where by those having public office should have to sign an MOU with voters at the time of seeking votes with measurable mile stones non achievement should curtail pay & termination of contract we have a dearth of officers who are taking VRS mid term & joining corporates or starting some thing of their own can we blame them.
The tricolor uniform can not wrap the dignity of spouse. My heart bleeds when brave hearts die when leaders, clerks are going soft on terror.
This is not the India of Tagore's dream this is the India against whom Churchil warned in the British parliament a country ruled by rogues.
My emotions are taking charge of my mind so I am signing off least I may lose control.
With my choked throat "Jai Hind"
