Are rising tropical storms artifacts of technology than climatic change?

Tropical storms that originate in the Atlantic Ocean have adopted a new trend, now, unlike previously, they are showing their presence more o'er the surface of ocean. What could be the reason of it? Is it because of the climatic change which is the by-product of global warming or are we accounting this because of the easy accessibility of technological equipments?

The below table systematically shows that the rate of cyclones and hurricanes have increased over the years. During 1905- 30, the ratio of cyclone/hurricane was 06/04, this became 10/05 during 1951-94, which again showed an escalation by 15/08 in 1995-05.

Researchers have attributed the constant rise in these devastating 'floods' to global warming, which has been caused by the human beings themselves. They added that to facilitate the stabilization of rising storms, they would have to work in order to control the global warming.

In order to stress their point, the researcher said that, tropical storms draw their energy from warm ocean water. And that during the study of past hundred years, the surface temperature of North Atlantic has mounted by 1.3 degrees Fahrenheit. Since, the changes of temperature on the ocean surface causes modification in atmospheric wind fields and circulations, which further gives rise to these tornadoes. While other scholars have estimated that two third of warming is because of human and industrial activities.

While still others hold the view that changes in solar activity, especially sun is to blame for these cyclones. Nevertheless, British and Swiss experts give the opposite view, they say,

over the past 20 years, all the trends in the sun that could have had an influence on the Earth's climate have been in the opposite direction to that required to explain the observed rise in global mean temperatures.

However, an official at the National Hurricane Center, Chris Landsea, completely rebuffs the statement, personifying their study as sloppy science. According to him, human beings have now technologically sound equipments at their disposal because of which they can keep record of such occurrences, and so improvements in observations actually took place, hence these reports have accounted for the rise in such storms.

Kerry Emanuel, a hurricane expert at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, surfaced a very important point which stood against the setting laid by Chris Landsea. Emanuel asserted that actual initiation of accurate observations were made in 1944 with an aircraft flight into storms and that the satellite observations were made in 1970. And that the paper which shows the above record is around 1930's to 1995.

Whether we were in possession of technologically advanced equipments or not that is not the question to be asked for, rather it's time to realize that our planet is undergoing certain changes. One study suggests the affect of human-induced climate over the global rainfall patterns during the 20th Century and that Aspen skiing region is the finest example where officials are trying their best to save this famous sport, while, the polar ice is at risk in this century, now the question emerges, who is to blame for all these types of catastrophe? Yes, global warming, which is responsible for all such types of degeneration that is consuming our planet.

Hence, the only way to save our planet from the tentacles of global warming is to make use of renewable energy sources than the nuclear solution. After all, the developing nations too are inclining towards renewable energy.
