Are Circuses Extinct Now?
Starting with a Question: Are circuses extinct now? Why?
As we know, circuses used to be an entertainment package provided by a large group of professionals who performed a series of activities to entertain people…. One or two decade back, these were the first thing that came to mind of children & teens who sacrificed schools, evening’s games to reach to watch circus… And now, we are not even aware if any of the circuses is still in this world or all are gone… They not only offered entertainment to a large set of people in rural, suburbs & urban localities of India, but also offered a chance to earn livelihood to masses through the food items & other utilities which were sold near to the location of establishment of a circus... In other words a market used to form nearby location where a circus was tented… This market offered a large set of utilities, services & of course domestic usage materials other than this being a potential place to advertise for political & social campaigns (and these were used for the thing, those days)………

Seems to be a truth, tough to grasp, but… yes… circuses are extinct now… Reason…umm… may be…shift in social set up leading to nuclear family where both husband and wife are working to earn better status (DILK: double income less kids)… This has led to destroy the hunger in children, for exploring new areas (parent put kids locked in house with video games or television sets)…….
As we also experience, present competitive age is not offering a family to sit together to come close to each other, forget of getting a chance to visit some market and circus kind of thing… This is leading to yet another potential threat to society, but present topic is not for a society, but for an entertainment package, which seems to be out placed by similar television show …….
Which are the shows, taking place of a Circus? Do they offer similar entertainment? Can they be a substitute to a circus?
Answer to first question: Comedy Circus, great Indian tamasha, SAREGAMA & Similar shows ……
Answer to second question: No, they offer limited entertainment; they offer only mimicry kind of entertainment package (pretty similar to Joker’s role in a circus)…They can’t offer a large place for congregation of a society… Yes, they have provided families with a reason to get glued to television sets (or idiot boxes, as a call it)...Yes, they have provided a family to congregate at a place, but not a society…
Answer to third question: No, they can’t be a substitute to a circus. It is pretty similar logic as we can’t replace or substitute a society by a family…
To chalein kya apne bachpan ki is yaad ko waapas laane?
