An exemplary work for poor
This is an exemplary work which other such organizations can do. In the name of God, exploiting the religious and caste sentiments, people in every nook and corner of India collect donations and mostly misuse it.
But not the the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, a hardcore religious organisation based at the heart of Mumbai for celebrating the Ganesh Utsav (birth anniversary of God Ganpathi) every year which is the most popular religious celebration in Mumbai.
Unlike many other such organizations, for the first time in its 75-year history, the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal (LRSGM) has committed its resources to a specific project: setting up of a Dialysis Centre for economically backward renal failure patients. The mandal, which so far has been donating only to individuals, has earmarked Rs 2 crore for the facility from the donations it expects to receive during Ganesh festival this year.

The Mandal has asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to lease us a 3,000 sq metre plot in Lower Parel in Mumbai. If all goes well, the dialysis center will be ready by Dusshera in October.
It will have 16 dialysis machines and will also be equipped with a pathological laboratory, where people can get tests done at nominal costs.
The setting up of a dialysis center for poor is significant as a substantial percentage of the population who suffers from renal failure is unable to afford dialysis. There is a long waiting list for treatment at clinics, as kidney patients are required to undergo dialysis thrice a week. However, most undergo dialysis just once in 15 days.
