Amitabh Bachchan Sings Again
Amitabh Bachchan doesn't like being called 'Big B' and doesn't like the Indian film industry being called 'Bollywood', but the list doesn't end there. He also does not like getting behind the mike for singing. Though his dislike for it is much, much lesser, but Mr. Bachchan is not really comfortable singing. He has maintained all the while ever since he sang Neela Aasman So Gaya for Silsila that he is no singer, and that's the reason why he is wary of lending his voice to songs. However, the likes of music director Aadesh and filmmaker Ram Gopal Sharma refuse to believe him on this.

So, Mr. Bachchan is once again singing. This time for Varma's Nishabd, which is said to be loosely based on Nobokov's famous novel, Lolita. The song to be sung by Mr. Bachchan has been composed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
However, Mr. Bachcha still doesn't think that he is a singer. He said:
I don't know how to sing. I never did. Earlier, too, when I sang for 'Silsila' ('Neela aasman so gaya') I cringed. Even now my reaction is the same.
However Ram Gopal Varma has a different take on it. He said:
You've to hear how Amitabh sounds in the number. When I heard him do the song in 'Baabul', I thought that was the ultimate. But after hearing him sing Bhardwaj's song in my 'Nishabd' I've decided this is his best song ever.
Well, singer or not, Amitabh Bachchan does put his heart in whichever song he croons. So, it rises from the heart, and that's enough. After all, when the heart sings, even the absence of talent doesn't matter.
