American Imperialism Defined
It's rare, even in anonymous quoting, for a U.S. official to be candor about American imperialism.

The United States prefers to coach its rhetorical empire-boosting with language about "stability" and "our allies" and "rogue states" and opportunistic and cynical concern about human rights. But here's finally a rare admission of America's goals in the region by a State Department official:
"The US and Israel will only have to collect the pieces and do what should have been done half a century ago and that was to install governments that understand regional and international realities."
The official is discussing how the United States intends to disarm Hezbollah and, in addition, over through the Syrian regime. Notice his inclusion of Israel in this scheme. And for what? For "governments that understand regional and international realities."
This means for another client regime in the region which will bow to American imperialism, allow the United States to dominate another people's world with impunity, and to be subservient to Israel and stay silent about the Israeli killing and occupation of Palestine, and - in the case of Syria - allow Israel to keep the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and sign a 'peace of the slave'.
Understand regional and international realities means understanding American empire and the need to bow to it and to just accept this injustice, and this official - no doubt a Zionist fanatic - also wants a double-injustice in the form of condoning Zionism and all its birthed horrors.
But that's American imperialism and support for Zionism. And all its injustices. At least they're finally being honest.
One Congressional staffer added: "Don’t you see, the STL is the perfect international law instrument to destroy Hezbollah, achieve regime change in Syria, create deadly Sunni-Shia conflicts everywhere, cause civil a war in Lebanon and topple the Mullahs in Iran. It’s going to be like Cheney never left office."
So these people get their jollies off of inflicting suffering and mayhem for another people.
And American elites think people hate them for their freedoms [sic].
