Alcohol Massacre Hits a Record 65 Deaths
Kabale district in south western Uganda is shocking with news of rising deaths resulting from residents consuming the all too familiar fatal alcohol. 65 people have so far been confirmed dead with the number rising every single day.

The government health officials have set up an operation in the area impounding jerrycans of crude waragi, arresting anyone caught selling crude alcohol and topping it up with sensitising the public about the dangers of crude waragi. This appears not to make a difference with the local residents who are continuing with drinking their local beverage increasing on the number of deaths everyday.
Reports indicate that people are now disguising the selling of this fatal crude waragi, selling it inside beer bottles instead of the formerly used plastic sachets, glasses and transparent bottles. Also, the local leaders are not eager to openly support the anti-fatal-alcohol campaign in their areas for fear of facing a backlash in the forthcoming elections.
Last year, the same fatal alcohol caused the death of several people. No one has yet to be brought to book. The same situation is happening yet over again. Interestingly, investigations are going on, just like before, they will yield no culprits or reports. The same story is bound to happen over and over again in either same place or another.
Alcohol is a fast income earner in this country with so many people enjoying the crystal-clear liquid every evening after work and more heavily during celebrations. Unless, the government comes out much more strongly against companies making this fatal drink, expect more deaths to occur.
