Ajmal Kasab wants a Rakhi on his 'blood stained' wrist!
India like most countries, is a heady mix of good and bad. There are umpteen anecdotes we have been brought up on, which narrate how change of heart has made Valmiki's out of bandits. But in modern day, such a heart change over is not only hard to come but even harder to be accepted.

And one least accepts such a thing to come from Azmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist of the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai. But then the holy festival of Raksha Bandhan seems to have brought about some change of heart in the killer who massacred dozens in a killing spree at Chatrapati Shivaji terminus, Kama hospital and elsewhere. Or so it seems as the terrorist today demanded that someone come forward to tie a Rakhi on his wrist.
According to his counsel SG Abbas Kazmi, Kasab expressed the desire while being brought to the court today. His lawyer further said that Kasab expressed his desire after he saw several people in court sporting colourful 'rakhis' during the day's proceedings. Admitting that he too was taken aback at the request, Kazmi said he briefed Kasab about the sanctity of the day and candidly reasoned with him that this was highly unlikely as women only tied this bond of love and affection to brothers.
Kasab, being tried at a special court here for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, in which at least 170 people were killed is the lone survivor among the 10 Pakistan-based terrorists involved in the strike, and off and on has been making weird demands during the trial, ranging from requests for Urdu Newspapers, books to read, non veg fare to eat and now this Rakhi demand.
Little does he understand India and its rich culture which while on one had is very compassionate, on the other is also very unforgiving to acts of crime and terror.
