After rape stone pebbles shoved in private parts of a Widow
A widow 50 years old was raped and not satisfied the rapists shoved stone pebbles in her private parts as a punishment, her crime, the accused persons suspected the victim practiced witchcraft and "killed" a six-month-old baby by her "black magic" at Gangti village under Goradih block in neighbouring Bhagalpur district.

About five months ago, the six-month-old daughter of Anil, a resident of Gangti village under Goradih block, had died of some unknown disease. Suresh, a village "ojha", had then alleged that the widow is a witch and the baby died because of her black magic. Following the allegation, she was thrashed and threatened by Anil and some other villagers.
After the death of her husband, the 50-year-old woman earned her livelihood by selling vegetables at village markets of Rajoun, Jagdishpur and adjoining places. On saturday when she was returning from the marketplace she was waylaid by five persons---Anil, Faujdari, Sikander, Mikki and an unidentified person than she was taken in a field where Anil and Faujdari raped and shoved pebbles in her private parts. They also snatched all her money. Somehow, she managed to reach a phone booth and informed her son-in-law and daughter, who resides in Gangti village under Goradih block in Bhagalpur, the victim stated, adding she sometimes used to stay in the night at her daughter's place.
Arjun Singh, medical superintendent of JLNMCH, Bhagalpur, while confirming the recovery of stone pebbles from the victim's private parts, said detailed medical examination is underway and reports would be available soon.
Bhagalpur SP BS Meena said on Monday that the victim's complaint will be transferred to the Rajoun police station in Banka district as the place of occurrence is under the Rajoun PS.
Banka SP Shyam Kumar said those found guilty would be punished. The Barari PS officer in-charge Anil Kumar said the victim has been provided police security.
Superstitions, ignorance, illiteracy and above all, the major culprit, poverty all factors are responsible for the above inhuman behaviour meted out to the poor female. The village "ojha" supposedly the unofficial medical practitioner of the village who wields a great power over ignorant villagers had a major role in this whole episode, maybe he had vested interests but he won't be punished.
What is more alarming is such incidents are happening in this age and period when every bigwig is rushing to villages promising all modern facilities to garner brownie points to get in the good books of persons who matter.
